Since March 2007, the bi-monthly magazine has been delivered free of charge to all households in the village. Not only does the magazine keep everyone up to speed with the latest news, events and projects, it also includes articles on a wide range of subjects from local history to farming, and opinion pieces to household hints.
Who is the Worlaby Views team?
The Worlaby Views Magazine team, is Rachael Edwards, Chris Edwards, Lesley Robinson, Meg Jones, Bob Adcock and Sue Webster. This team meets to talk about how the magazine is going, to plan future issues – and to organise fundraising events such as the annual Plant Sale with Coffee and Cakes. We’re very keen that the magazine continues to bring the community of Worlaby together, including useful and important information, but that it is also an interesting read, with ‘proper’ articles. It’s at these meetings (and by email when we can’t meet) that we have come up with ideas for series such as Then and Now, interviews with villagers, motorcycles, Youth Views, Rural Issues, Stargazing and Collectors’ Corner – and where we think who we can gently persuade into writing for the magazine!
Beyond this core team there are a great many people who work extremely hard each issue. Regular contributors include Mel Adcock, Elaine Otty, Lis Owen, Gill Odlin, Deb Hotson, Liz Andrews, Paul Edwards and Ian Garner – as well as many villagers who write ‘one-off’ reports or articles. The magazine is delivered by the team and Liz Andrews, Liz Stephens, Paul Edwards, Lis Owen, Pam and Richard Beeforth, Maureen and Rickwood.
